The details:
Thank you for dedicating your time and energy to help clean up our beautiful rivers and trails on July 12th! Your commitment to our environment is truly appreciated. As we embark on this cleanup effort, please remember that safety is our top priority throughout the day. Be mindful of your surroundings, wear appropriate footwear and clothing, stay hydrated, and be aware of potential hazards both on the water and on the trails.
We will be tackling litter and debris along the Chenango and Tioughnioga rivers via kayak and on foot along Chenango Valley State Park hiking trails. Each departing group, whether you're kayaking or hiking, will be provided with trash bags and gloves to collect any litter you find. Kayak groups will also have an additional empty kayak to help transport the collected trash back to designated collection points. Let's work together to make a significant positive impact on the health and beauty of our local waterways and natural spaces. Thank you again for being a part of this vital cleanup effort!
Please review the 3 different cleanup areas and choose one that fits your ability and schedule. Each group will have a team lead that will manage the supplies and be your point of contact. Please register each volunteer individually to ensure accurate gear preparation, shuttle seating, and site assignments. This is a private event, so these links are the only way to sign up. Please be sure to sign up directly from the links on this page.
Every piece of trash removed helps the plants and animals of this ecosystem. From them, and from us, thank you.
Also, a huge thank you to Amanda and her team at VAST. They are a very cool organization that is doing a lot to make our area a better place to be. They have been an integral part in making this event happen.
